Featured Projects

Short Film — Talk to Mama

Director of Photography & Location Sound Mixer • RED Komodo + DZOFilm Vespid Primes • 14-day shoot

A narrative short following a young woman navigating disclosure and identity within a strict Asian household—first as an aspiring filmmaker challenging her parents' expectations, and later as a queer woman asserting her autonomy. The visual approach emphasizes emotional restraint and escalation, using contrast, proximity, and controlled movement to support performance and tension.

Short Film — Couple's Argument

Director of Photography & Location Sound Mixer • RED Komodo + Fujinon Cabrio 19–90 • Motion control • 3-day shoot

A narrative short examining conflict and compromise between two partners with opposing lifestyles—one structured and career-focused, the other unstructured and homebound. Shot entirely within a small basement apartment, the visual approach relied on precise blocking, simulated window light, and creative rigging to expand a confined space. Integrated controlled camera movement, including a top-down sequence, to externalize tension and evolving power dynamics.

Doc Series — Harvard Arts

Director of Photography & Location Sound Mixer • Canon C70 + RF Zooms • 12-week run

Shot a multi-episode documentary series following Harvard performing arts ensembles on tour across 10 countries. Operated solo in rapidly changing environments, balancing vérité cinematography with clean lav and boom capture while working unobtrusively in live performance and behind-the-scenes settings. Delivered same-day selects to editorial via a streamlined proxy workflow, supporting fast-turnaround storytelling across locations.

Visual Approach

Human-first, story-led cinematography

I prioritize naturalism and presence over spectacle, shaping images that support people and story without drawing attention to the camera. My approach favors available light and subtle augmentation, preserving the integrity of real environments while maintaining visual clarity and emotional tone—while remaining flexible enough to lean into contrast or emphasis when the story calls for it.

Classical Performance Capture

In addition to narrative and documentary cinematography, I specialize in high-end classical music recording and performance capture. My work includes orchestral, operatic, and chamber productions, combining cinematic visuals with meticulous, performance-grade audio workflows.

As a classically trained musician, I bring an informed understanding of musical structure, rehearsal process, and performance dynamics to both sound and image capture. This work emphasizes precision, restraint, and deep respect for live, non-repeatable performance environments—skills that directly inform my approach to documentary and narrative filmmaking.
